A CLINICAL FOUNDATION, APPLIED THOUGHTFULLY

Experience shaped by critical care, anesthesia, and rural medicine.
Erica’s career in healthcare spans nearly two decades and has taken her through several very different areas of medicine. She began as a registered nurse, spending much of her early career in surgical intensive care, caring for critically ill and complex patients while participating in emergency response and code teams.
She later became a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist and has spent more than a decade practicing anesthesia, primarily in rural healthcare. Her experience includes surgery, endoscopy, obstetrics, emergency care, and the wide range of clinical situations that come with caring for patients in smaller community hospitals.
Rural medicine has shaped the way Erica practices. It requires independence, adaptability, attention to subtle changes, and an understanding that the whole person matters—not just a number or a single concern.
BUILT FROM CURIOSITY
A practice built for the questions that deserve more attention.
Erica’s interest in health has never stopped at traditional medicine. More than a decade ago, she completed a Nutritional Therapy program and has continued studying nutrition, metabolism, and health throughout her career.
Over time, she became increasingly interested in the questions that do not always have an easy answer: why someone can have “normal” test results and still feel exhausted, why weight can become harder to manage, and why sleep, mood, libido, cognition, muscle, and overall function can change.
That curiosity eventually led Erica back to school to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. She wanted the opportunity to care for people beyond the operating room, build longer-term relationships with patients, and have the time to look more closely at the questions that matter to them.
That path led to Backroads Beauty Aesthetics.
CLEAR INFORMATION. THOUGHTFUL OPTIONS.
Care should not be about chasing a number or a quick fix.
Erica’s approach begins with understanding the person in front of her. She uses objective data when it is helpful, listens to what a patient is actually experiencing, and puts those pieces together before recommending a next step.
Patient education is a meaningful part of the way she practices. Erica wants patients to understand why an option is being recommended, what alternatives may be available, what the evidence shows, and where that evidence has limitations. Sometimes the right answer is simply, “I don’t know, but I’m going to find out.”
She continues to pursue education in functional and integrative medicine, hormones, metabolism, and nutrition. For Erica, continuing education is an ongoing responsibility: medicine changes, evidence changes, and good care requires a willingness to keep learning.
CARE THAT STILL FEELS LIKE YOU
Thoughtful hormone and aesthetic care, without pressure to fit a template.
Hormone care
Backroads Beauty gives patients a practical place to ask questions about hormone health and the changes they are experiencing. Erica believes people should have time to ask questions, understand their options, and take an active role in their own health.
Aesthetic care
Erica is not interested in changing someone’s face or convincing them they need to be fixed. Her aesthetic philosophy is centered on natural results, healthy skin, and thoughtful treatments that help someone look refreshed while still looking like themselves.
ROOTED IN RURAL KANSAS
A provider who understands the place she serves.
Outside of medicine, Erica is a wife, mom, homeschooler, and lifelong learner. She and her husband are raising their family in rural Kansas while building a small hobby farm.
She loves to travel, hunt, hike, bike, cook, strength train, and spend time outside. She also enjoys photography, history, and a quiet place with a good book. Curiosity is the common thread through both her personal and professional life.
